On May 2nd, 2009, Eva Longoria Parker waved the checkered flag sending 23 drivers along with celebrities such as
Gene
Simmons, Shannon Tweed, Stephen Baldwin, Tony Parker and Terry Crews on a fantastic journey. The Rally is truly a unique
event, where else can you throw a baseball in Dodgers stadium? or tell a joke on the Laugh Factory stage? or Meet and
interact with the children currently battling cancer, that will benefit from your fundraising efforts? All in the same day?!
The Jeans & Jewels Gala Dinner was held on a private estate located in Beverly Hills and was an experience like no other. There is definitely truth to that saying "there is magic in Hollywood" as we witnessed it happen. Celebrities and guests alike where inspired by the philanthropic spirit and offered spontaneous one-of-a-kind experiences which helped us generate over $400,000 in one night during the Live Auction!
Why did they do it? One of our esteemed guests was a young woman by the name of
Lauren Valdes, who at the very
young age of 14 addressed everyone in attendance and eloquently spoke of her fight against cancer and the amputation of
her leg below the knee. When you hear stories like Lauren's there really is no need for "magic", just the strong desire
to raise awareness and the sheer determination to see an end to this devastating disease!
Together we can make a difference!
